The Livingston-Overton Chamber of Commerce will soon offer computer courses in the Crawford community.
Chamber CEO Shannon Cantrell said the chamber is partnering with Five Loaves Food Pantry to operate the computer courses. Cantrell said the course will teach basic computer skills and be a big benefit.
“First of all, it gives them confidence when they go into a job interview,” Cantrell said. “I think most of the employers nowadays are looking for someone who has confident computer skills. It is very important.”
Cantrell said a start date for when the course will begin has not been set but more details should come out soon. Cantrell said the course will be free for the community.
“It’s one hundred percent free for the community and hopefully we are able to do lunch free as well,” Cantrell said. “That is one hundred percent the plan.”
Cantrell said the chamber will use the class to hopefully brainstorm more classes in the future.
“Maybe that first class we see what other people need,” Cantrell said. “We will move forward with doing other classes depending on what they are looking for in that area.”
Cantrell said the chamber had some leftover laptops that were not being used. Cantrell said the chamber sent the laptops to the Five Loaves Food Pantry. Cantrell said not only will the community have computer access but also wifi access as well.
