Downtown Baxter plans to implement its new city logo from Tennessee Tech students as part of its downtown rebranding plan.
Baxter Steering Committee Member Lindsey Bruce said the city plans to work with local businesses on façade improvements. Bruce said the city already has a few ideas on how to implement the logo in rebranding downtown Baxter.
“We would love to do flyers, signage, and flags on like flag poles,” Bruce said. “We would love to be able to do a mural of some sort somewhere. Then also we have talked with the city about potentially putting the logo on the floor of the entrance of our depot.”
Bruce said a few businesses downtown are already selling merchandise with the new logo on it. Bruce said residents should expect to see the new logo on a larger scale around downtown sometime next year.
“We are just kind of getting into the meat of the façade grant that we are working through with Tennessee Downtowns,” Bruce said. “So we hope to incorporate that grant money next year into our projects, so I would think residents of Baxter would be able to start seeing that logo and branding used in different materials for sure next year in 2025.”
Bruce said the new logo is bee-themed and represents Baxter very well.
“Tennessee Tech was great to work with us and kind of incorporate all the things we love about Baxter and kind of sum it up in our logo,” Bruce said. “We definitely pulled from our bees with our schools and it’s got like a honeycomb design in the center which we really just feel like the community of Baxter works together much like a hive.”
Baxter received a $15,000 Downtown Grant. Bruce said the city is continuing to apply for more grants to obtain more funding for the rebranding project. Bruce said she hopes once the city can begin the project that it would attract more people to the downtown area.
“We really want to just revitalize our downtown area,” Bruce said. “And make it look beautiful and great and a place where families and the members of the town are able to come and enjoy and we hope to use that logo in as many places as we can.”
