Byrdstown-Pickett County Chamber of Commerce unveiling a new website designed to improve the user experience.
Byrdstown-Pickett County Chamber of Commerce Director Bill Robbins said the previous website was not user-friendly on mobile devices. Robbins said the new website will not only make it easier for Pickett County residents to use but also potential tourists.
“More inclusive of a lot of different venues,” Robbins said. “It’s going to include new things like travel itineraries and we are going to have a lot more pictures and content and try to target interest the people have when they jump on our website.”
Robbins said updating the website and changing content will now be much easier. Robbins said he is hoping that with the new website, the citizens of Pickett County will be more in touch with what’s going on in the county.
“It will make it easier for them to get on and find information and to exchange information with us,” Robbins said. “And to see what is being presented by the chamber through the usability of it and the ease of how you can maneuver the site.”
Robbins said with the implementation of AI in Google searches the previous site was given a low-rated score. Robbins said the chamber will make an effort to keep a highly rated score to make sure the site will show up when being searched for.
“The AI does a different analysis,” Robbins said. “They want to see more changes, more content, and whoever is putting better content, the AI is going to recognize that.”
Robbins said moving forward the website will be constantly changing with different content. The chamber was able to get the new website layout through grant funding.
