A juvenile suspect has been taken into custody by Cookeville Police after a Friday shooting at Cookeville’s West End Park.
The name of the suspect is being withheld, according to Cookeville Police Spokesperson Anthony Leonard.
18-year-old Demarcus Hughes of Cookeville died as a result of the shooting Friday. Hughes was pronounced dead upon arrival at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. A second victim was treated at CRMC. His condition is unknown.
The incident happened just after 4:00 Friday afternoon at West End Park. The shooting remains under investigation. Police did not indicate whether anyone else is wanted in connection with the incident.
