The Upper Cumberland United Soccer Club will merge with the Tennessee Soccer Club in hopes of improving access to resources.
TSC/UC United Director Jason Gentry said the merger has been in the works for quite some time, and the completion of it is a big step forward. He said the actual proceedings began back in May and progressed very quickly and organically because of the mutual respect between the two organizations.
“I’m just super excited about the opportunity because I think of the opportunities we’re going to be able to give to the kids and the community,” Gentry said. “You know, we’ve had an awesome relationship.”
Gentry said that he and his constituents at UC United have always worked to offer the best opportunities to their players, but have often been short on necessary resources. He said the advanced training, matchday, marketing, and outreach resources of TSC will allow UC United to expand into new areas.
Still, though this is a big step for the club, Gentry said it won’t impact the core methods, values, and traditions of the club. He said their mission will remain as it’s been, focusing on two things: the kids and the community.
“Things this season are going to look pretty similar, and I think that should help,” Gentry said. “But moving forward, I think that we can expect to start seeing some growth.”
Gentry said registration for the upcoming recreational and competitive seasons is open now through the TSC and UC United websites. He said the programming will remain much the same, and the competitions will be familiar to long-term members of UC United.
