Norma “Jean” (Roland) Phillips, 88 of Cookeville, and formerly of Brick, New Jersey, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Charter Senior Living of Cookeville. Jean was born Saturday, August 25, 1934, in Newark, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Robert Virgil Roland and the late Evelyn Ciara (Baldassarre) Roland. Jean was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was proud of being the first female industrial painter in an all-male union. She was a waitress part-time for most of her life which she really enjoyed and up until the end, she still longed to do that. She was a gifted artist and clothing designer. Jean loved people, her children, grandchildren, and family. She was always very generous and was known to help anyone in need. She was a great big sister and always let her family know how much she loved them. Her humor and loving ways will be greatly missed. Jean is survived by, Sister, Mary Christine Habif and her husband, Jeffrey; Granddaughter, Alexandra Phillips; Grandson, Justin Phillips; 3 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Nieces, Christine Colucci, and Stacey Hedges; 2 Nephews, Scott Schneider and his wife, Kelly Jo, and Sandy LoSapio and his wife, Theresa. A host of cousins, and special friends. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by, 2 Sons, Gary and Robert Phillips; Sister, Nancy Joan LoSapio. Jean chose cremation, the family followed her wishes, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Funeral services for Mr. Murl P. Melton age 78 of Allons, will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11 AM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston, with interment to follow in the Mabry – Melton Cemetery in Allons. He passed away at his home on Tuesday morning, June 20, 2023 in the Willow Grove Community of Clay Co. Murl was born in Whitewright, TX on August 19, 1944 to the late James Curtis and Mazzie Pearl Melton. Murl was a Vietnam Era Veteran. Survivors: His loving wife of 55 years Anna Grace McDonald Melton; Daughter: Heather Melton; Son: Michael Shane Melton and wife Melissa; Ex Son-In-Law: Ray Hammock; Brother: Sam Melton; Sisters: Bea Hamilton, Donna Silbert, and Linda Sells; 4 Grandchildren: Megan Herren, Adrienne Hammock, Savannah Hammock, and Azekial Melton; 7 Great Grandchildren: Lillian Hammock, Ezra Herren, Ellie, Chloe, and Jaxson Booher, Dakota Smith, and Clayton White. Preceded in death by: In addition to his parents; Brothers and Sisters: J.P. Melton, Charles Melton, Mary Stallcup, Edna Kidd, Joyce Catron, Geneva Burris, Robert Melton, Glenda Garrett, and David (Dog) Melton; and 2 Great Grandchildren. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, June 23, 2023 starting at 5 PM until 9 PM.
Graveside Services for Mrs. Judy Lane Parrigin, age 73 of Livingston, will be conducted 11 AM Saturday, June 24th, from Flat Creek Cemetery. Bro. Jason Robertson will officiate. Mrs. Parrigin passed from this life on June 16, 2023, from the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on November 21, 1949, to the late Daniel and Deloris Bice Sandlin. Mrs. Parrigin loved spending time with her family, who were her main joy in life. She was very devoted to Daniel and David. Judy enjoyed sewing and crafts, and she always found hard work to be very fulfilling. Mrs. Parrigin leaves behind her son Michael Parrigin and wife Amy of Livingston; grandsons Nathan Harvey, Jacob Parrigin, Jonathan Harvey, Jeremiah Parrigin, Joseph Parrigin, David Parrigin, and Daniel Parrigin all of Livingston; granddaughter Mariah Harvey Craynon and husband Brady of Morris, Minnesota; brothers Jerry Sandlin and John Seals both of Michigan; and sisters Ellie Seals and Angel Seals both of Detroit, Michigan. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parrigin was preceded in death by her husband Michael Parrigin, daughter Shannon Harvey, and grandson Jesse Parrigin. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.
A memorial service for Regina Ruth (Lambert) Mayberry, 88, of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at 1 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home, with Brother Kevin Daughrity officiating. Interment will follow at Smith Chapel Cemetery. Regina passed peacefully at her home Tuesday, June 20th. Regina was born August 3, 1934, in Michigan, to the late Oplis Smith Lambert and Lizzie Mae (Meadows) Lambert. She met the love of her life, James Lee Mayberry, while working for Cookeville’s Bennett Roofing, soon after they wed. James enlisted in the Navy and made a career as an air traffic controller. Regina was a devoted military wife, she made Newfoundland, Cuba, Virginia Beach, Pensacola, and Texas her home. They raised four children, Roberta, James, Aubrey, and Ronnie. In 1975 Regina’s spouse retired from the Navy and relocated the family to the Mayberry farm in north Putnam County, where they spent the rest of their lives. Regina embraced the farm life with a passion for gardening, home-cooked meals, and her flower beds. In her later years, she took great pleasure in watching football and the birds, deer, and squirrels that gathered at her front door feeders. Regina was a doting grandmother to Shavonne, Poppy, and Sunny. Four caregivers blessed her life in her final years. She so looked forward to her Thursday hair appointments and special lunches. Regina was a long-time member of the Sycamore Church of Christ. Regina was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Mayberry, brothers Dee and Junior Lambert, and sister Lorena Lambert. Surviving are her children Roberta(Bill) Love, James (Wendy) Mayberry, Aubrey (Camille) Mayberry, Ronnie(Donna) Irwin, grandchildren Shavonne Hutchings, Poppy Fliss-Mayberry, and Sunny Fliss-Mayberry. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 24th from 11-1pm at the funeral home.
A Funeral service for Donald Paul Agee, 90 of Cookeville, will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Presley Funeral Home with Chaplain Matthew Finchum officiating. He died on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. Born Tuesday, January 3, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Williard Agee and the late Florence Gase Agee. He was a Veteran of Korea. The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM until time of service at 3:00 PM.
Funeral services for James “Jim” McCaleb, 86 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 4 PM at Colonial View Baptist Church. Interment will follow in West Cemetery. Jim passed away Monday, June 19, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends Saturday 1 PM until service time at the church.
Funeral services for Mr. Douglas Alan Young, better known as Alan, age 59 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Monday, June 26, 2023 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Shady Grove Cemetery. He passed away at 4:29pm Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. Alan was a St. Patrick’s Day baby, born March 17, 1964 in Muncie, Indiana. He was a truck driver, welder and farmer. He was a self taught musician loving to play guitar, drums and sing. When he was not playing music, he enjoyed horseback riding. He is preceded in death by his mother Faye Houston. Survivors include his wife Karolyn Young; Father: Douglas B. Young and wife Marie; Step-children: Ryan Frasier, Brently Curtis, Chad Curtis and Cody Curtis; Step-sister: Janet Farley. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Monday at Hunter Funeral Home.
