Obituaries For Friday, June 9

Thomas Joseph “Tom” Agee Jr., age 62, of Crawford, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Agee was born on June 8, 1961, in Merced, California, to Thomas Joseph Agee Sr. and the late Mary Lou Schmidt. Mr. Agee was an Information Technologist working in Health Care. He is survived by 1 sister and brother-in-law: Suzanne and Terry Goolsby of Crawford; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Carl and Nancy Agee of Lakeland, FL, Stephen Agee of Lakeland, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. His wishes of cremation are being honored with Celebration of Life Services to be announced at a later date.

Mary “Margaret” Allen, 79 of Cookeville, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023, surrounded by her family. Born Sunday, June 13, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Avery Farley and the late Margaret Shirley Witt Farley. She was the loving wife of the late William Lee Allen for over 50 blessed years. Margaret loved the Lord Jehovah. She was always studying the bible and enjoyed fellowship with her brothers and sisters at the Kingdom Hall. She so loved her family. She was the loving stay-at-home Mom of 6 beautiful children. When she wasn’t caring for her children, she enjoyed painting, drawing and sketching which have all been passed on to her children. Margaret absolutely loved music, listening to it all day long. A quick learner, she taught herself to play the piano, canning and gardening. Margaret created the most beautiful flower gardens. She was a fabulous cook, every dish was a favorite, but her specialty were her desserts. She is survived by 2 sons: Robert (Janet) Allen of St. Augustine, FL, Michael Allen of Park City, UT; 4 daughters: Balinda (David) Westmoreland of Cookeville, Donna (Marty) Spitznagle of New Albany, IN, Dorothy Rose Allen of Louisville, KY, Anna Marie Allen of Louisville, KY; 10 grandchildren: Krystal, Vanessa, Dacqueri, Jonathon, Jordan, Alexis, Courtney, Michael, Tyler, and Ethan; multiple great-grandchildren; siblings: Ginger Hibdon, Alice Dugan, Johnny Farley, Brenda Wightman, and Jimmy Farley; And many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Margaret chose cremation and the family followed her wishes. There will be a private family celebration at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Margaret said “call your family”.

Graveside services and interment for Mr. Eldridge Eads, 85 of Monterey, will be held Saturday June 10 at 1 pm at Whittaker Cemetery. Eldridge passed away Friday morning June 2 at his home. His family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Horner Funeral Home in Monterey.

Graveside services for Billie LaFever, age 56 of Cookeville, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday June 10 Perkins Cemetery. Billie passed away suddenly June 4 at his home. His family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.

Memorial Services for Adger “A.C.” Charles Sullivan, age 82 of Cookeville, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Tracy Curtis, Wayne Sullivan, and Eugene Cunningham officiating. A private burial will follow at a later date. He passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. He was born May 23, 1941 in Spencer, and he was the son of the late Adger Sullivan and Connie Lawson Sullivan Madewell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Kewin Madewell; siblings, Sara Grimaldi, Evelyn Summerlin, Gewin Youngblood, Ruth Dodson, and Donnie Sullivan; and a great-grandson, JD Hyatt; all whom he loved very much. Survivors include: Sons- Mike Sullivan (Denise) and LaVaughn Smith; Daughter- Lisa Sullivan Scott; Grandchildren- Damon Scott, Paige Scott Reed (Lucas), Allan Smith, and Leslie Hyatt Goodwin; Great-Grandchildren- Andre Hyatt, Madison Maham, Austin Rodgers (Mackenzie), Trystin Scott, Ellis Reed, Anniston Reed, and Ezmay Reed, all whom he loved dearly. A.C. drove a truck, was Chief Deputy of Van Buren County, and worked as a civil engineer for TDOT for 35 years. He won many charity poker games and donated all the proceeds to benefit children. He loved sports of all kinds. To all the children he coached or umpired over the years, you know who you are, he truly loved and enjoyed each of you and hoped he left you better than he found you. He was full of pride and stories over the years. You made him happy with all the hours that were put in together. He would want to say thanks to Betty Sullivan, Janet Sullivan, special friend, Dorthy Kirby, and special family and friend, Carol and Bruce Stewart. Although times weren’t always easy, he loved each of you for taking such good care of him along the way. He also attended North Sparta Church of God. The family will welcome friends on Saturday from 12:00 PM until time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested if you have any photos, fond memories, or stories of A.C., please write them down and bring them to the family at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Arlis Talley, age 80 of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 3:00pm from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Mike Dyer and Dan Huffines officiating. Burial will follow at the Smith Chapel Cemetery. Visitation with the family will only be held on Saturday, from 12:00pm till time of the service at 3:00pm. Jimmy Arlis Talley was born on August 24, 1942, in Putnam County to the late Arlis and Gillie (Jackson) Talley. Jimmy retired from the factory industry having worked with the Norwalk and Fixture World companies. He was a member at the Willow Avenue Church of Christ in Cookeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Glenda Faye Talley, Laura Marie Talley, and Barbara Geesling. Plus one grandson: Tryston Crawford. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Barbara (Mitchell) Talley of Cookeville; Two Daughters and Sons-In-Law: Melissa (Kevin)Crawford & Linda (Jack) Brock; Plus, three grandchildren: Addison Crawford, Kaden Crawford, and Marcus Brock. Visitation with the family will only be held on Saturday, from 12:00pm till time of the service at 3:00pm. The family would also like to suggest that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Willow Avenue Meals on Wheels program.

Funeral services for Mr. Glenn G. Sims, better known to family and friends as Buckshot, age 72 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Monday, June 12, 2023 at the Hickory Valley Baptist Church with burial in Hickory Valley Cemetery. He passed away at 4:50am Friday, June 9, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family. The family will receive friends from 4-8:00pm Sunday at Hunter Funeral Home and after 10:00am Monday at the church.

A memorial service for Kaleen Emlee Fahrner, 72 of Cookeville, will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Presley Funeral Home with the Eddy Turner officiating. She died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at home surrounded by loved ones. Born Monday, June 5, 1950 in Bay City, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late William Ervin LeMere and the late Catherine Bowden LeMere. She was the wife of Ronald Fahrner. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Presley Funeral Home.

A Funeral service for Donald Paul Agee, 90 of Cookeville, will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Presley Funeral Home with Chaplain Matthew Finchum officiating. He died on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. Born Tuesday, January 3, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Williard Agee and the late Florence Gase Agee. He was a Veteran of Korea. The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM until time of service at 3:00 PM.
