Obituaries For Monday, July 11

Mrs. Charleen Beatrice Anthony, age 72 of Rickman, passed away Monday, July 11, 2022, at her home. Her wishes of cremation are being honored, and a memorial service will be at a later date. Mrs. Anthony was born March 7, 1950, in Connecticut the daughter of the late Geard and Doris Harrison Blanchard. She was a retired real estate agent, owning her own company, Home Port Modular in Swansea, MA. Survivors include two sons, Jamie (Tracy) Rogers of Rickman and Dan (Nancy) Rogers of Nashville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Bruce Anthony.

Ms. Phyllis Marie Sherwood, age 62 of Cookeville, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. A private family memorial service will be held at a late date. Ms. Sherwood was born Saturday, September 19, 1959, the daughter of the late Willie Rose and Ollie Chester Rose. Phyllis loved spending time with her family, fishing for whatever would bite, and growing flowers, specifically tulips and roses. Survivors include two sons, Willie (Michelle) Sherwood of Newport and Takoda Sherwood of Baxter; a daughter, Hannah (Kenny Nelson) Flatt. And numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Curtis Raymond Cooper, age 60 of Algood, will be held Monday, July 11, at 6:00 p.m., at Stevens Street Baptist Church. Mr. Cooper passed away Friday, July 8, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born December 19, 1961, in Highland Park, MI, the son of the late Rev. Charles and Maude Wilson Cooper. Curt owned and operated C&C Lawn Care in Cookeville for many years. In prior years, he worked as a skilled carpenter and at Stevens Street Baptist Church in maintenance. Curt also played Santa Claus during the Christmas season for many years at countless events throughout the Upper Cumberland. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Kim Burroughs Cooper; two sons, Curtis (Stephanie) Cooper of Knoxville and Cody (Ashley) Cooper of Maryville; three daughters, Amanda Payne of Manchester, Bethany (Ben) Beasley of Cookeville and Chelsey (Michael) Odum of Hendersonville. Visitation will be held Monday, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to the charity of your choice in honor of Curt.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Helon Johnson England, age 87 of the Macedonia community of White County, will be held Tuesday, July 12, at 1:00 p.m., at Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Saylors Cemetery. Mrs. England passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Life Care Center of Sparta. She was born July 24, 1934, in the Center Point community of White County, the daughter of the late Lesel Holder and Anna Mae Luna Johnson. Helon was a faithful wife, a loving mother, grandmother and a devout child of God. Survivors include two sons, Joe B. (Kathy) England of White County and Gerald (Rebecca) England of Sparta. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Floyd Bransford England; a son and daughter-in-law, H.L. & Rita England. Visitation will be held Monday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Hunter Funeral Home, and Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Macedonia Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kathy J. Gilpatrick Smith, age 68 of Livingston will be held Tuesday, July 12, at 6:00 p.m., at Livingston Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Overton County Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Smith passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, in Livingston. She was born November 30, 1953, in Overton County, the daughter of the late Duvaugh “Dude” and Irene Ogletree Gilpatrick.  She was a graduate of Livingston Academy and a member of the Livingston Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Myra (Josh) Thrasher of Livingston. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Smith. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Livingston Church of Christ. Memorial donations may be made to the LA Alumini Association or the Rickman Elementary Veterans Project.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda Faye Anderson Neal, age 56 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, July 13, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Mrs. Neal passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022, at her residence. She was born August 18, 1965, in Sparta, the daughter of the late Delmer Ray Anderson and Wanda Lucille Cunningham Anderson. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Jack Neal. Four sons, Thomas Ross Seibers, Printis Whittenburg, Weston Whittenburg and Kendall Whittenburg. Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Carmack Nevins, age 80, of Livingston will be held Wednesday, July 13, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Overton County Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Nevins passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Tompkinsville, KY. She was born February 21, 1942, in Crossville, the daughter of the late Domer and Sarah Elizabeth Crabtree Carmack. Jean was a member of Livingston Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Ann (Jerry) Thompson of Tompkinsville, KY. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nevins. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Brenda Louise Gentry, age 73 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, July 13, at 1:00 p.m., at Presley Funeral Home. Mrs. Gentry passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at her home. She was born Friday, July 23, 1948, in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of the late Ralph Burke and Gladys McCowan Burke. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, John Gentry; four daughters, Denna (Mike) Dietrich of Cincinnati, OH, Trina (David) King of Anderson, IN, Candace Gentry of Pendleton, IN, and Julia (Mark) Bringham of Franklin, IN. Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Funeral services for Mr. Bill Goolsby, age 72 of the Fairview community of Jackson County, will be held Wednesday, July 13, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Stacy Cemetery. Mr. Goolsby passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born March 10, 1950, in Jackson County, the son of the late James Malcolm Goolsby and Lucille Moore Goolsby. He was a heavy duty mechanic and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of 53-plus years, Linda Stacy Goolsby of Gainesboro; a son, Johnny James Goolsby of Gainesboro; a daughter, Lisa Renee (Phillip) Scott of Gainesboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Billy Jason Goolsby. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mr. Goolsby.

Funeral services for Mr. David Lewis Walker, age 81 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, July 14, at 11:00 a.m., at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Stone Seminary Cemetery. Mr. Lewis passed Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born April 28, 1941, in Putnam County, the son of the late Cordell and Pearl Moore Walker. David was a lifelong farmer and a retired auto mechanic. He was talented at restoring antique license plates and was recently featured in the 385 magazine. David was a member of Auto License Plate Collectors Association. (ALPCA), and was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margaret Minton Walker. Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.

A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Linda Faye Hawkins Savage, age 48 of Livingston, will be held Saturday, July 16, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Hall Funeral Home of Livingston. Graveside services will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery, followed by the Repass (food) at First Christian Church in Livingston. Mrs. Savage passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born November 13, 1973, the daughter of the late Jackie Hawkins and Pauline Reyes. She grew up in Cookeville, where she attended and graduated from Cookeville High School. Linda later studied in Nashville and worked in food service for many years. Linda gave her life to Christ and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, where she became secretary of the Bible class and later received a diploma from the Bible Prophecy Class. Survivors include her husband, Troy Savage; two daughters, Saneisa Savage and Lakeisha (Stacy) Darty; one son, Matt Darty; stepmother, Faye Smith. Visitation will be held Friday, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

A memorial service for Mr. Richard Percy White, age 84 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, July 21, at 12:00 p.m. at Stevens Street Baptist Church. Mr. White passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022, at his home. He  was born April 23, 1938, in Nashville, the son of the late Harold and Christine White. He served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960 aboard the U.S.S. Warrick. During his service, he was on the Navy Boxing Team and received the Navy Expert Pistol Shot Medal. Richard owned several small businesses and also worked at the Nashville Ford Glass Plant. He attended Stevens Street Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Beverly Swafford White; two sons, Jesse Dean (Debbie) White and Harold Bryant (Susan) White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Todd White. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 21, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
