A Monday evening crash on South Jefferson Avenue claimed the life of a Cookeville man.
The Cookeville Police Department has identified the deceased as 64-year-old Gerald Champion.
According to a press release, Champion was driving a 2014 Ford Escape when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a parked 2008 Nissan Altima.
Officials said Champion was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead at the hospital. Initial investigation indicates Champion suffered a medical event prior to the crash.
