Wednesday Morning Fire Damages Smithville Home

A Wednesday morning fire has destroyed a Smithville man’s outbuilding and caused significant damage to his home.

Officials said the blaze broke out at a home on Snow Street around 2:00 a.m.

Fire Chief Charlie Parker said the homeowner escaped the blaze when a police officer arrived on scene and managed to wake him up.

Officials said the fire likely started from a propane heater that was left on inside the outbuilding.
