Remember Bus Safety In School Preparations

When preparing kids for school, parents need to remember transportation.

Putnam County Schools Transportation Director Kim Bradford said bus rules and other information will be included in the first day of school paperwork.

Parents should also keep travel times in mind.

“They’re going to ride a bus they need to make sure, we have a 10 minute either way window, I mean, anything can happen at any given moment that could make us be 10 minutes earlier or 10 minutes later,” Bradford said.

Some kids have to go a little farther to get to the bus stop, Bradford said.

“There’s half mile walks around the county, that’s board approved and it is the parents’ responsibility to get your child to and from the bus stop safely,” Bradford said.

Putnam County students dismiss at 10 a.m. Monday, but bus routes will still run, according to schools Director Jerry Boyd.
