New Local Program & Podcast Launches Monday

News Talk 94.1/AM 1600 will launch a new daily program that focuses on the people, issues and communities of Putnam, White, Overton, Dekalb and Jackson Counties on Monday. “Local Matters” airs weekday afternoons at 5:30pm beginning Monday. The 30-minute program follows the Upper Cumberland At 5, a daily local news, sports and weather roundup on News Talk 94.1.

“It is our company’s goal to super serve the Upper Cumberland with local information and “Local Matters” is a natural extension of that,” Stonecom President Larry Stone said. “Over the first six months of News Talk 94.1’s existence, the reception to its programming philosophy has been amazing and we are so appreciative.

Local Matters features a different topic and host daily. Mondays, longtime community activist and leader Judy Duke will talk to the region’s interesting people. On Tuesdays, Tennessee Tech will spotlight the research being done on campus and issues affecting faculty, staff and students at Tech.

Wednesdays, former Cookeville Mayor Matt Swallows will focus on the issues affecting local people from roads and growth to education to workforce development. On Thursdays, longtime local teacher and coach Sam Brooks will go inside the world of local sports with the coaches, players, and legends.

Each Friday, Dwight Henry and Pastor Ron Allen from Living Hope Church will focus on living life in the fast-paced modern world with practical, sensible advice, based in faith.

“Every day, we’re focused on local matters…with local people and local experts,” Stone said. “It’s important dialogue because LOCAL does MATTER.”

The show airs each weekday at 5:30pm and will also be available via podcast on NewsTalk941.Com, 1069KicksCountry.Com, LiteRock959.Com, and Rock937Online.Com.

Local Matters on News Talk 94.1 is presented by Twin Lakes Tractor and Lawn in Rickman.
