Icy Road Conditions Cause Numerous Accidents In Cumberland Co.

Icy road conditions caused some problems in Cumberland County this morning.

Officials said crews responded to some 50 vehicle crashes within a span of one hour this morning. Road Supervisor Scott Blaylock said many of the accidents occurred on state highways.

“On Lantana Road, they had multiple accidents, including an overturned TDOT salt truck on Laurel Hill,” Blaylock said. “The city of Crossville had an overturned salt truck on Cook Road.”

Other accidents were also reported on Highway 68, around Cox Valley Road and on Highway 127 South where a number of trucks jack-knifed, according to Blaylock.

No serious injuries were reported.

Blaylock said road conditions were beginning to improve as the temperatures began rising in the area.
