Former Putnam Co. Corrections Deputy Indicted

A grand jury indicted a former Putnam County Corrections Deputy Tuesday for allegedly possessing a controlled substance and introducing contraband into the jail.

Authorities have arrested Billy Farley on charges of conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal facility, possession of Buprenorphine with intent to deliver, and official misconduct.

“It is a sad day in law enforcement when not only a member of our community gets involved with drugs, but when a trusted member with the responsibility to protect the public from criminal activity related to illegal narcotics is found to be involved, that is deeply troubling,” Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris said. “As long as I am Sheriff, illegal actions by any member of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office will not be tolerated and will be investigated.”

Farley was hired under the previous administration on October 14, 2013 and was employed by the Sheriff’s Office until his termination on October 19, 2017.
