Farris: Common-Sense Precautions For The Weekend

Sheriff Eddie Farris said he hopes residents take some common-sense precautions this weekend.

Officials can’t estimate the number of visitors that will arrive this weekend to view Monday’s eclipse.

“I think all the motels are sold out, several people have rented houses and so on and so forth, so people who are staying obviously are going to the grocery store and buying a lot of food, so for those of us who live here I would suggest doing that today or tomorrow and getting ready for it,” Farris said.

Staying one step ahead of the visitors can help smooth things for the weekend, he said.

“We’re obviously telling all of our deputies to make sure all of our vehicles are filled up with fuel and I would do the same if I lived here,” Farris said.

The eclipse will take place Monday afternoon. Hotels have been sold out around the Upper Cumberland for several weeks, as have campgrounds and other accommodations.
