East Tennessee Sex Offender Apprehended In Cookeville

Cookeville Police arrested a sex offender from Hawkins County last week after he tried fleeing the state for Salt Lake City Utah.

According to a report released yesterday by the Tennessee Department of Corrections, offender William McAllister removed a GPS tracking device and boarded a Greyhound bus in Washington County.

Authorities in East Tennessee said managers at the bus station confirmed that McAllister had boarded the bus, which had stops planned in Crossville, Cookeville, and Nashville.

After notifying the Cookeville Police Department, officers in the area managed to locate and apprehend McAllister at a location on Jefferson Avenue.

He remains behind bars at the Putnam County Jail.
