Crossville Officials Discuss Possible Recreation Advisory Board

A group of Crossville residents want to create a citizens advisory board as part of a master recreation plan for the city.

Group leader Doug Parkey said the proposed advisory board would seek to promote and recruit more athletic events to the Crossville area.

“Again, this is to support existing events and venues and to enhance and recruit those events,” Parkey said. “We also want to look at our facilities that we have in the area and see if there’s maintenance or other things that need to be done to those facilities.”

The city council has directed City Manager Greg Wood to get with county officials to see if they would be interested in partnering with the city on the proposed venture.

Wood did say that a 2014 Recreation Master Plan indicated the need for a recreational committee in Crossville.
