Former 18-Term House Member Buck Of Dekalb Dies At 89

Former legislator Frank Buck who served Cannon, Dekalb and Smith Counties over some 18 terms, has died. Buck was 89. The Tennessee Tech graduate was born in Trousdale County and settled in Dekalb County. Buck elected to the State House in 1972 for the first of 18 terms. He retired in 2008. Fentress Commissioners Approve New County Road List

The Fentress County Highway Department presented an updated county road list to Commissioners Monday night. Juvenile Pleads Guilty To All Charges In Death Of Cookeville Teen

The juvenile charged in the death of Cookeville High student Alex Hughes Brooks last October pled guilty to all charges Thursday. The 17-year old, whose name has not been released, entered his plea in Juvenile Court to charges of Reckless Homicide, Aggravated Assault and Tampering With Evidence. Investigation Continues Into Fairfield Glade Homicide, Assault

The Cumberland County Sheriffs Department and the TBI investigating an apparent homicide and assault in Fairfield Glade early Wednesday. The suspect in the case, 33-year-old Jason James Chapman, was found dead at an Arkansas hotel Wednesday afternoon from self-inflicted injuries, according to the department. Cold Weather Shelter Opens In Cookeville Sunday

An emergency cold weather shelter has been established for the homeless at the Cookeville Rescue Mission. The shelter opened at 3pm Sunday and will continue operations until further notice. Tennessee Tech will cancel classes Tuesday because of “potentially dangerous weather conditions.” Classes are already cancelled for Monday and University offices closed due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
