ACT Not Releasing October Scores For Alvin C. York Institute

October 17th ACT tests will not be scored for students at Alvin C. York Institute due to a “mis-administration” of the tests.

Superintendent Phil Brannon said ACT has refused to validate the tests because students took a test intended for October 3rd.

“Because we didn’t take the test until October 17th, the ACT protocol is that that they invalidate those tests for security reasons and that the students have to re-register and re-test,” Brannon said.

Brannon said ACT has agreed to provide vouchers for students to retake the test on December 9th, but some parents and students are concerned about having to retake the test because the scholarship deadline for most colleges is just weeks away.

Only two students at York Institute could be affected by the scholarship deadlines, Brannon said.

“We are calling the schools and explaining to them what happened and making sure that it won’t interfere with their chance to get a scholarship,” Brannon said. “From what I’ve been told, the colleges are cooperating and they understand what happened.”

“It was just a mix up somewhere in shipping, but it’s a resolved issue as far as we are concerned,” Brannons said.
